What to be excited for in the Andor Series and will there be a Book of Boba Fett Season 2

Following Obi-Wan Kenobi's series in May, we will be seeing the release of Andor, a prequel spin-off series stemming from Rogue One. The series will take place 5 years before the events of Rogue One and will feature Diego Luna reprising his role as Cassian Andor. The series will be 12 episodes and there have already been confirmation that there will be a Season 2 ahead of its release date this summer. Meanwhile the Book of Boba Fett just ended their first season and we have yet to hear rumors of a season 2, it's strange that before audiences have even seen a trailer for Andor, we have already confirmation for a second season. It tells us one of two things, that either Lucasfilms is incredible confident that this series will be as good as the Mandalorian or they have so much content planned that they needed to make a second season.

As we know from Rogue One none of the rebels survived and thus the reason Andor series is set during the Rebellion's creation. It has been described as a series featuring espionage and daring missions in attempts to restore hope to the Galaxy and eventually overthrow the Empire. The biggest question for the series is why? We already saw Rogue One where Cassian and K-2S0 meet their end after successfully stealing the plans for the Deathstar, so what more of their story is there to tell? Considering we already have the animated series Star Wars: Rebels, it begs the question of what ideas do they have for the series that will truly set it apart from what we've already seen. It still does have potential as a series exploring the birth of the rebellion, but the fan base has been yearning to see more Star Wars content outside the Empire/Skywalker timeline so they must have a fascinating story and characters to introduce or this is just another money grab.

So how can they capitalize on another project being set in the time of the Empires control? Fan service cameos and guest stars. Along with the return of K-S20 voiced by Alan Tudyk's, it has been reported that Jimmy Smits will be returning as Bail Organa. The most enticing rumors that raises the potential for this show drastically is that Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi will reportedly be a recurring character in the series. This would imply that Obi-Wan played a role in creating the Rebellion and more than likely has left Tatooine when he was needed by them.

Given that the series will feature Cassian utilizing his espionage skills, we can expect that the series will likely explore parts of the underworld as both sides attempt to undermine the Empire. Who was the last known leader of the criminal underworld (from the final season of The Clone Wars), none other than Darth Maul. Given that their was also rumors of a potential Darth Maul series and then we got confirmation of Season 2 of Andor, it seems likely we will be seeing his return to the big screen. If that proves to be the case we can only hope that it means we will see Obi-Wan Kenobi face off against Darth Maul once again.

If we do in fact see the return of Darth Maul and his Crimson Dawn syndicate, we could also expect/hope to see Emilia Clarke's Qi'ra make a return to Star Wars. Season 2 could explore how Qi'ra was able to seize control over Crimson Dawn and in what ways they helped the Rebellion against the Empire whether it was intentional or unintentional. Not only would Emilia Clarke's return be a headline for the series but it would also allow the series to further utilize any ideas they had for a second Solo movie.

What other characters could we see make an appearance in Andor? Well we still don't know what exactly Ahsoka was doing following the end of Clone Wars and before Rebels so perhaps she was another character that was instrumental in the establishment of the Rebel Alliance. Considering Ahsoka made a surprise appearance in the Book of Boba Fett it seems likely Rosario Dawson is open to returning to the role whenever asked. Filoni had tweeted back in 2017 that Ahsoka and Kanan Jarrus knew each other very well prior to their appearance in Season 1 of Star Wars Rebels, and for this reason we can expect to not only see Ahsoka but also the Hera, Zeb and Kanan Jarrus make their live-action debuts as they meet each other while uniting under the Rebellion Alliance.

The series could explore exactly how these characters met one another and considering we saw their younger selves in the Bad Batch (minus Zeb), it would make sense to see the next part of their journeys. Speaking of, we could also see the Bad Batch crew of Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Echo and Omega make their live-action debut. The importance of Omega's introduction in this series would mean that we will see more of her in future projects and she could even get her own spin-off series (unless she is going to appear in Mandalorian Season 3 or a related series).

It seems unlikely at this point although one has to wonder what was the point of the series? At the end of Mandalorian Season 2 we saw him take over Jabba's palace as Daimyo, and then in his own series how an elite Bounty Hunter became "soft in his old age" living alongside Tusken Raiders. The Pyke syndicate is a powerful faction but for them to only send one bounty hunter and two scorpeneks, albeit Cad Bane who is one of the best, and then just give up on Tattooine is underwhelming. Although it seems unlikely to get a Season 2, we know that we will assuredly see Boba and Fennec again in Mandalorian Season 3 and/or whenever the Mandoverse fights Grand Admiral Thrawn. The two best stories for Boba Fett going forward would be to explore the origins of his Father and how he went from Mandalorian Foundling to Bounty Hunter to raising Boba Fett and in a way that story can mirror Boba's journey. The other story that we would love to see explored is how Boba feels about his fellow Clones and what better way to do that than to have him meet the Bad Batch.

Given that the Bad Batch is still alive in 9ABY, at the very least we can hope Boba will one day meet his sister Omega and together they can explore the origins of Jango Fett or perhaps work together to save their remaining clone siblings.

Additionally Boba's right-hand Fennec Shand helped save Omega from Cad Bane during the Bad Batch so it would be fascinating to see them return. Speaking of Cad Bane, he could return in Season 2 as he hired to once again track down Omega, I know it does appear that he died but the positioning of his arms in these two shots might indicate he was able to survive. Maybe someone just made a mistake but Cad Bane is too interesting to be killed off in this manor and personally I would love to see Bane and Boba have to work together in the future. Let us know what you think, are you excited for the Andor Series? Do you want to see Obi-Wan, Darth Maul and the Ghost crew in the series? What about Boba Fett do you want a season 2 or would you rather see him and Shand appear in an Omega spin-off series.
